Sarah I have to read all the way through this still but before I forget, I found you through Victoria Smith and love what I see because we share some similarities... I'm also an American living in Europe, for one - but in Germany. So happy to find you here!

Sarah - Great article! I enjoy reading your posts each week, but this one really struck home for us. We lived in London for 3 years (2009-2012) and Paris for 3 years (2012-2015) before returning "home" to the U.S. (We now reside in Connecticut... not that far from Holly, actually!) We miss many things from our time abroad, and you captured many of them in this post! Enjoy the time you have there. Take photos, jot down things your kids say or do... they are precious memories you'll treasure for years to come. Hope all is well! (~Stephanie Helminger, aka Stephanie Munson)

Sarah, you have no idea the impact you are making on your children. My sisters and I were literally almost shoved onto the train starting at age 14 and told to GO! We did, spending every summer for over 10 years going to a different country, learning, meeting the most wonderful people, eating the greatest foods and growing as humans. We are all now all over 70 years old and still talk about our lives! Thank you for the warm memories!

Your comments about food (quality, guilt) remind me of our stays in New Zealand (my partner is Kiwi). It may not be cheaper there, but it's *better.*

I like watching my young daughter exist abroad; she's very comfortable, and I hope to let her experience it full-time some day.

Sarah, I love learning about your new life and adjustment to it in Hungary. I cannot wait to read more.

Like Holly Becker, I found you through Victoria Smith (and I found her through Holly). I recently returned from a month in Israel; two of my children live there. I have been going there for about 15 years, and many of your comments about Hungary ring true for Israel also. I enjoy visiting very much, but I wonder if I could handle the serious culture shock of living there. Language would be my biggest obstacle for sure. I love the simpler lifestyle and wide acceptance of children everywhere. And the food is amazing. And the weather.

Hi Sarah, this is Cindy Bagwell, Hollys' mom. What a wonderful experience for you and your children. Reminds of our years in France when Holly and Jennifer were young. I have loved watching how your career and family have grown. I have been to Budapest, as my parents lived in Hungary for a year, but I didn't get out to the villages. Enjoy this wonderful time. Cindy
