(COOK)BOOKS FOR MOTHERS
And other ladies you love
I just walked to the post office to mail a little gift to my mother—full disclosure—the first time in a very long time she’ll receive her Mother’s Day on time. It’s harder and harder to stay ahead of these things, isn’t it?
I’d like to say I know exactly what your mother wants for Mother’s Day (probably she wants a nap and a foot rub!!) but I have a few ideas for you—most of which you can order now and still have sent directly to her, before Sunday.
Cheeky shameless plug, I’ve penned four cookbooks—three that are a fit for mothers of all ages. Books are small and easy to ship, fill our minds and hearts with inspiration and these have a very practical gift that keeps on giving vibe (100 + recipes each, for beautiful meals to come!).
EVERY DAY IS SATURDAY // Perfect if she loves low-fuss, high reward food that feels like the weekend, plus recipes for easy dinners and entertaining. This book is loaded with all of the above, ripe with that breezy feeling that comes rushing in every spring and summer. (Named a Best New Spring Book 2019 by Bon Appetit and New York Times Cooking).
INSTANT FAMILY MEALS // For the mom who is big on hustle, has a jam-packed life, and a family with big appetites. Also: she appreciates a good cooking hack and a reliably delicious make-ahead. Instant-Pot focused, with a pretty strong slow-cooker side game and lots of tips, charts and appliance know-how.
FEAST // Let’s say the mom you want to treat is a vegetarian—-my (harder-to-find but still available) book Feast is chock full of plant-forward, delicious, satisfying meals that don’t require fancy equipment, special ingredients or a week’s wages to prepare. (Nominated for Jame’s Beard Award, and an Amazon and In Style Editor’s pick many moons ago).
EDIBLE LIVING // Maybe the mother you love just wants to know that you’re thinking of her every week. If she’s someone who loves food, home, travel and entertaining—a gift subscription to this newsletter would serve as a lovely weekly reminder that she’s on your mind. Here’s where you can do that, below.
Maybe none of those things are in your budget this year—that’s ok. There’s a good chance the thing she wants most of all just to hear the words thank you, for all the love she gave/gives, for the sacrifices she made/makes. I would know, I’m a mama myself. Those words go a loooong way.
Celebrating all the mamas out there, this week and always.
WANT TO PERSONALIZE IT? // I get it—SHE’S SPECIAL!! Shoot me a note back with your mother/friend/sisters’s name and address, and which book you bought for her, and I’ll pop a signed book plate in the mail this week, expressly for her.
INDIE LOVE // I love to support Indie bookstores, and many often have signed copies of my books! To shop indie, follow the link below to find brick-and-mortar shops across the country, that will ship for you, too!
